Mansfield Tigers

Head Coach: Rich Cole

Record last season: 10-26

Returning golfers: Senior - Alec Simpson; Junior - Dakota Alexyn

Newcomers: Freshmen - Connor Bickart (Liberty), Ryan Campbell, Derek Nybeck (North Penn)

Thoughts on this years team: New team members have little playing experience, but each is very athletic, has good eye-hand coordination, and they are quick learners. They exhibit great potential that will develop into better scores during the season. Our two returning players, Alec and Dakota, are on track to develop into district qualifiers.

Sayre Redskins

Head Coach: Scott Taylor

Record last season: 5-31

Returning golfers: Sandon Beeman, Joe Kozemko, John Shaw, Phil Wood, Ben Northrup

Newcomers: Chas Zimmer, Juan Valeazques, Marshall Higley, Seth Murrelle, Culer Kochir, Austin Rowe, Steve Yanuzzi

Thoughts on this year's team: Should improve on last year's record. Good turnout of 9th and 10th graders, hoping to be .500 in the league and go to districts.

Thoughts on the league this season: Towanda should be team to beat. Rest of league looks to be pretty even.

Towanda Black Knights

Head Coach: Tim Farley

Record last season: 41-14 (37-5 NTL, 2nd of seven teams)

Returning lettermen: (12th) Taylor Shattuck - District IV qualifier, 2010 NTL 1st-team selection. Nick Spencer - two-time letterman, District IV qualifier, 2010 NTL 2nd-team selection and NTL Most Improved Player. Jacob Manchester - two-time letterman, 33rd-ranked in 2010 NTL. Dylan Bartholomew - 96.2 average in 2010. (10th) David Rodenhizer - 2010 NTL Rank: 12th, District IV qualifier, 2010 NTL "Rookie of the Year." Hunter Gordon - 2010 NTL Rank: 32nd. Returning players: (11th) Jessica Heyer; Dan Miller; Christian Basse. (10th) Ryan Cuddy; Josh Cole-Camp; Jon Kilmer; Spencer Roof; Blake Burlingame; Garrett Johnson.

Newcomers: Coach Darlene Innocenzo.

Coach's comments on team: Cautiously optimistic. With six returning players having match experience, we could be pretty good - but we have to work hard and avoid the "roller coaster ride" of good rounds followed by bad rounds. We lost last year's NTL title by a grand total of five shots over the season - we won't forget that as we work for our goals this year. Every shot, every match counts, and it will take six players focusing on the job at hand. We can't give away shots and expect to win. Also, we are very glad to have Coach Innocenzo working with our JVs this year - she will be instrumental in helping us prepare a team for next year and beyond.

Coach's Goals: Win the NTL title. Try to break school record of 43 wins. Qualify five players or more for District IV tournament. Qualify two or more players for second day of District IV tournament. Place three or more players on all-NTL team. Develop JV players; encourage them to "take the next step." Have Knight Golf become perennial NTL and District IV contender. Represent Towanda High School and Towanda Country Club with "Black Knight Pride."

Coach's comments on NTL: Wellsboro has had a two-year run as league champs, but suffered very heavy graduation losses. The team will be good - but whether or not they can fill the void left by Corey Lewis' graduation will determine how good. It also has to contend with replacing a fine coach in Tim Frazier. Northern Tioga has the best returning player in the league (Gavin Howe) - but what it has behind them will determine how good the team will be. Obviously, I think we will be in the mix - I don't think any other team in the league has the depth we have from one to six in the lineup - but we are very thin beyond that. Out JVs are a year away, at best. The other schools - Athens, Sayre, Mansfield, and Northeast Bradford - are going to have moments in the sun, and we will certainly not overlook them - but probably need a couple of players to step up to field a consistent top six.

Athens Wildcats

Head Coach: Jeff Novak

Record last season: 3-39

Returning golfers: Garrett Ulmer (11), Josh Miller (12), Megan Sweppenheiser (11), Shane Bradley (11), Reagan Martin (10), Pascal Liddane (10), Jason Vorhis (10)

Newcomers: Jeremy Way (12), Patrick Cole (9), Nick Bradley (11), Ian Riben (12)

Thoughts on this year's team: Very young. The team seems enthusiastic about the season.

Thoughts on the league this season: Towanda will be the team to beat, however Northern Tioga and Wellsboro will challenge. The league is pretty even after that.

Cowanesque Valley Indians

Head Coach: Larry Moon

Record last season: 26-16

Returning golfers: Gavin Howe, Dakota Ruef, Dan Streeter, Wade Tubbs

Newcomers: Nick Cevette, Jared Clark

Thoughts on this year's team: We have a good team and should have a chance at winning the NTL this year. We have four returning starters which gives us some good experience. Our newcoming freshmen Nick Cevette will also be a great addition for the team.

Thoughts on the league this season: The league is still going through a rebuilding process for many teams. The teams to beat this year will be Towanda and Wellsboro. Most of the other teams will be pretty equal in talent.

Wellsboro Green Hornets

Head Coach: Ben Largey

Golfers: Brandon Osgood (12), Nick Callahan (12), Dillan King (10), Blair Carson (10), Brett Kendrick, Josh Cooper (11), Brandon Owlett.

Northeast Bradford Panthers

Head Coach: Bill Wallitsch

Golfers: Davis Young (12), Brett Goodwin (12), Zach Chilson (12), Ben Abell, Cody Clark (10), Dakota Bellinger (10).

Sullivan County Griffins

Head Coach: Seth Kanaskie

Returning golfers: Derek Wilkins, Luke Iarowski, Ethan Kinsey, Conner Wilie, Nick Weinhardt

Newcomers: Ryan Kinsey

Thoughts on this year's team: We gained a lot of experience last season and will be better this year because of the effort the guys have put into it.

Thoughts on the league this season: We have a team goal of qualifying for districts.
