Towanda's Innocenzo named NTL's Golfer of the Year.

2014 NTL Golf All-StarsThe NTL golf coaches announced their award winners and all-star teams.

NTL Player of the Year

Nick Innocenzo (Junior, Towanda). Coach: Tim Farley. NTL average: 80.26. The District IV Class AA Champion shot 80-77 to win the title by four shots in his third second-day appearance in the tournament. Advanced to PIAA Tournament following a 79, good for a ninth-place finish at East Regional with a 79. Finished 35th at states, shooting rounds of 85-92. Top 10 finishes in all seven NTL matches this season, with low round of 76 at Towanda Country Club. Medalist three times (Towanda, Tioga and Tomasso's). A three-time NTL All-League choice after second-team honors in 2012-2013. Lowered scoring average by almost 10 shots per round in 2014, and improved NTL rank by nine spots.

First Team Selections

Zach Sitzman (Junior, Athens). Coach: Jeff Novak. NTL average: 81.00. Led the NTL-champion Wildcats in scoring; ranked second league-wide for the third consecutive year. Three-time District IV qualifier, shot a 95 this season. Top 10 finishes in every NTL match, with medalist honors at Tioga (Nichols) and Tyoga (Wellsboro). Low round of 76 at Tyoga Country Club. Lowered scoring average by one shot per round from 2013. Three-time All-NTL First-Team selection.

Brett Kendrick (Senior, Wellsboro). Coach: Corey Lewis. NTL average: 82.02. The two-time defending NTL Player of the Year dropped slightly in league-wide rank while maintaining his scoring average from 2013, but posted solid results through the year and into the postseason. Top 10 finishes in all NTL matches this season, despite playing with a balky shoulder. A four-year starter and four-time District IV qualifier. Kendrick qualified for second-day play at districts three times, including 79-88 this year to finish sixth and qualify for the East Regional, where he shot 102. Two times a medalist in NTL play (an NTL season-best 75 at River Valley, and +3 over 13 holes at rain-shortened Corey Creek).

Holdan Hitchcock (Sophomore, Wyalusing). Coach: Dave Hitchcock. NTL average: 85.13. Improved scoring average three shots per round, and improved NTL rank three places. An All-NTL Second Team selection as a freshman. Shot 96 at districts in his second trip to the tournament. Was a medalist at the season-opening match at Shepard Hills, shooting a season-low 79. Top 10 finishes in all seven league matches.

Ryan Campbell (Senior, North Penn-Mansfield). Coach: Rich Cole. NTL average: 86.37. Improved his scoring average by nearly three shots per round, and moving up in league rank from 8th in 2013. Qualified for second-day play at districts for the second year in a row, shooting 82-99. Finished Top 10 in six NTL matches this season. Low NTL round: 81 at Shepard Hills and Tomasso's. Low NTL finish: 3rd at Shepard Hills. A four-year starter who never missed a match - improved scoring average by over 30 shots from freshman to senior year.

Ryan Murrelle (Freshman, Sayre). Coach: Chuck Marvin. NTL average: 86.90. The NTL Rookie of the Year enjoyed a solid freshman campaign, finishing in the Top 10 in all seven NTL matches. Saved his best for last, shooting his first sub-80 round during the District IV Tournament to finish second (83-78) and qualify for the East Regional, where he shot 88. Low NTL round: 82 at Shepard Hills. Low NTL finish: 5th at Shepard Hills.

Second Team Selections

Nick Cevette (Senior, Cowanesque Valley). Coach: Larry Moon. NTL average: 87.39. A four-year starter who rebounded well from a mediocre junior season to return to the All-NTL Second Team (an honor he earned in 2012). Was a four-year district qualifier, shot 84-89 (10th overall) in his second attempt at second-day play. Improved scoring average by nearly seven shots and league rank by seven places over 2013 campaign. Low NTL round: 81 at River Valley. Low NTL finish: 2nd at River Valley and Towanda. Top 10 finishes in five of seven NTL rounds.

Patrick Cole (Senior, Athens). Coach: Jeff Novak. NTL average: 88.39. A key member of the deepest lineup in the league, Cole fired Top 10 finishes in six of seven NTL matches, with a low round of 84 at Tioga. Improved scoring average by nearly 10 shots per round, improving league rank by 12 places in the process. Three year District IV qualifier, shot 100 in the tournament this season. Four-year starter for the Wildcats.

Michael Johnson (Senior, Towanda). Coach: Tim Farley. NTL average: 88.83. Improved scoring average by over six shots per round, and league rank by seven spots. Two-time district qualifier who earned second-day play this year, shooting 89-86 to finish 11th overall. Low NTL round: 84 at Tioga and Tomasso's. Low NTL finish: 3rd at Tioga. Finished Top 10 in the final five NTL matches of the season to help the Knights move up in league-wide standings to second.

JP Shaw (Sophomore, North Penn-Mansfield). Coach: Rich Cole. NTL average: 89.56. Maintained scoring average and league rank from 2013, Shaw is named to the All-NTL team for the second time. Has a knack for playing well in the post-season as he qualified for second-day play at districts for the second time. Shot a fine 87-79 at districts to finish fourth and qualify for the East Regional, where he shot 90. Was a medalist at the home course (Corey Creek), shooting +3 over 13 holes. Also shot 82 at Shepard Hills. Four Top 10 finishes in NTL matches this season.

Jacob Aquilio (Junior, Athens). Coach: Jeff Novak. NTL average: 90.15. Earns first All-NTL selection after rising steadily through the rankings over three seasons. Improved scoring by three shots per round, and NTL rank by two spots. Qualified for second-day play in his second District IV tournament, shooting 84-95. Top 10 finishes in four NTL matches this season, with a low round of 86 at Tyoga. Best NTL finish: 4th at Tyoga.

NTL Most Improved Player

Patrick Ross (Senior, North Penn-Mansfield). Coach: Rich Cole. NTL average: 107.85. NTL rank: 31st. Improved scoring average a whopping 27 shots per round this season, and moved up 19 spots in the league rankings. Qualified for first District IV Tournament this season, where he shot 107. Three-year starter.

NTL Rookie of the Year

Scott Taylor Memorial (NTL Sportsman of the Year) and NTL Coaches' Award

Corey Perry (Junior, Sayre). Coach: Chuck Marvin. The NTL Sportsman of the Year was renamed this year to honor Perry's former coach, Scott Taylor. Before his passing, Coach Taylor was the embodiment of sportsmanship in golf - displaying traits of etiquette, fair play, good humor, knowledge of the rules, and winning (or losing) with class and dignity. Perry was selected this year by a league-wide vote of players and coaches, and proved himself a very worthy recipient. The NTL coaches are also proud to recognize Cory with its Coaches Award for his remarkable display of courage in overcoming adversity and competing this season. NTL average: 106.50. NTL rank: 27th. Low Round: 96 at Shepard Hills.
